Well I said that after the Sun Country that we would be climbing our way back to the top, and folks we managed to do it this week. With over a dozen horses to deal with this past week the show was and tough, but in the end all our hard work paid off! Horse and Rider of the Show is for sure a dead heat tie between Lisa Neiberger riding Credit for Heaven, and Morgan Brehm aboard Invitemeforchocolate. Both teams were amazing every time they went in the pen with Morgan winning the Circuit in the Novice Trail and Western Riding, and Lisa winning in the Novice Horsemanship. Topping this off, I won the circuits in both the Open Western Riding and Trail with Shaggy! The ole boy is back baby!!! (I mean Shaggy not me)

Michelle Forness and Stretch Machine took home top honors in both their classes winning the circuits in the Am Showmanship and Horsemanship. It sure is great to see Michelle and the big guy back in action again. Trevor joined us the last couple days to celebrate Valentine’s Day with Michelle.

Newcomer Catherine Johnson and her horse Lopen Like Lazy won their first circuit award in the Novice Youth Horsemanship. Look for more out of this young team in the upcoming shows. Also dominating the Youth Horsemanship pen was Payton Neiberger, pulling out a huge win the first day in the All-age Youth class. Not too shabby for her first year against all the older kids.

Shyanne Smith made her debut with What An Assett in the Horsemanship. I have to tell everyone how proud Jenny and I are of Shyanne. It is so very difficult for anyone to start out teaching a young horse, and Shyanne did it with style and grace. Though I did not get to see it Jenny and Shy both commented how amazing her last Showmanship pattern was. If not for one small mistake they would have been up near the top!

Anne Wilson is another one making her start this year with a young horse. After several hugely successful years with Visible Investment, Anne is debuting with her new partner in crime Laziness. In only two short shows this team is already qualified for the Select World in Showmanship and Horsemanship. Quite an enormous feat for only being 4 years old! Now we can just sit back and focus only strengthen our skills until the fall.

Angela Dillahunty made her return appearance to the pen with Won RV Ridin Machine. Angela did not get the chance to show Eden much last year as I kind of hogged her for myself. This year though Angela gets the head spot. Though there were a couple small bad spots all in all they had a great first outing of the year with points in the Select Trail and Novice Horsemanship.

Javah Mon and Paige returned for their second team outing winning the circuit in the Youth Showmanship. It is not easy following a rider like Parris Rice, but Paige is turning into quite the strong showman herself. Look for this duo to top the charts very very soon.

One weekend off then we are on the road again for a new show in Waco. Let’s hope the weather holds up as the end of February usually brings the white stuff to North Texas.
